Support

support@canosoftware.net

I read every message myself. I answer within two business days, usually sooner.

If something is broken, tell me which app, which device, and what you were doing when it happened. That's almost always enough for me to find it.

General

Who is CanoSoftware?+

One person. I'm TJ, I build these apps in Maryland outside of a full-time job, and I answer this email address myself.

What is the "Support Development" option in the apps?+

A tip jar. It appears in every app, it's optional, and it unlocks nothing. If something I built is useful to you and you want to put a few dollars toward it, that's what it's for. If you've already bought the app, you've done plenty.

How do I get a refund?+

Apple handles all purchases and all refunds. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and request one there. I can't issue refunds myself, but email me anyway and tell me what went wrong, because that's the part I can fix.

Do these apps collect my data?+

No app I make has an account system, an analytics package, or an advertising SDK. Your data lives on your device and syncs through your own iCloud. Two apps make outbound lookups: Roadworthy queries NHTSA for recalls, and Homestead queries Apple's WeatherKit for weather. Both are described below and in each app's privacy policy.

Onward

Is Onward free?+

The free version covers all four goal types, iCloud sync, the Apple Watch app, and up to five active goals. Onward Pro is a one-time purchase of $9.99 that removes the goal limit and adds the Insights dashboard, weekly review, timed habits, Apple Health import, CSV export, and multiple reminders per habit. There is no subscription.

I was already using Onward. Do I have to pay now?+

No. If you used Onward before Pro existed, you keep everything permanently, at no cost.

Do I need an account?+

No separate account, and no password to create. Onward uses the Apple Account already on your device, which is also how it syncs between your iPhone and your Watch.

Can I get my data out?+

CSV export is a Pro feature. On the free version you can delete all app data at any time, but there's no export. If having your data in a file matters to you, that's what Pro buys.

What happens to my streak if I miss a day?+

It depends how you set the habit up. Rest days don't break a streak, flexible frequencies give you room, and quit-habits restart the clean-day count. You can also open the calendar and fill in a day you forgot to log.

Steward

What does Steward cost?+

Steward is free. If that ever changes, anyone already using it keeps what they have.

Can my spouse see the same house?+

Yes. From the Home tab, tap "Share This Home" and invite one other person. You both get full access to add, edit, and check things off.

Do I have to enter my whole house before it's useful?+

No. One appliance and one reminder is enough to get value out of it. There's also a setup wizard that walks you through adding the common things most houses have.

Can I track a second property?+

Yes. A vacation home or a rental sits alongside your primary home and you switch between them.

Where does my data live?+

On your devices, syncing through your own iCloud account. Steward doesn't send your data anywhere else.

Roadworthy

What does Roadworthy cost?+

The free version covers two vehicles with unlimited maintenance logging, reminders, recalls, warranties, and up to ten documents across the whole garage. Pro is $19.99 a year, $2.99 a month, or $59.99 once for lifetime access, with a seven-day free trial on the subscriptions. Pro adds unlimited vehicles, garage sharing, receipt scanning, PDF export of service history, and unlimited documents. Pricing is US only right now.

Where do the recall notices come from?+

NHTSA's public recall database. To check a vehicle, Roadworthy sends its details to NHTSA and reads back the open recalls.

Does my VIN get sent to NHTSA?+

If you've entered one, yes. The VIN is how NHTSA matches recalls to your exact vehicle rather than to every car of that year and model. The VIN is optional on every vehicle. Leave it blank and Roadworthy still checks recalls, just less precisely. Nothing else about you is sent, and NHTSA is a US government agency, not an advertiser.

How does it know my mileage between oil changes?+

It estimates where your odometer sits based on your previous entries, so due dates stay close even when you haven't logged in a while.

Does one purchase cover my family?+

Yes. Roadworthy supports Family Sharing, so one purchase covers your household.

Can I hand the service history to someone else?+

Yes, with Pro. You can export a vehicle's full service history as a PDF. It's useful for a mechanic, and useful again when you sell the car and want to hand the new owner a real record instead of a shoebox.

Does receipt scanning send my receipts anywhere?+

No. The text recognition runs on your device.

Homestead

What does Homestead cost?+

The free version covers unlimited family members, unlimited chores with full history, calendar viewing and editing, current weather, timers, up to fifteen recipes, and iCloud sync across your own devices. Pro is $29.99 a year, $3.99 a month, or $69.99 once for lifetime access, with a fourteen-day free trial on the subscriptions.

What kind of iPad do I need for the wall?+

Any iPad works. A bigger screen is easier to read across a kitchen, and the 13-inch models are the largest Apple makes. If you have an older iPad sitting in a drawer, that's the one to use.

Do my kids need their own accounts?+

No, and they can't have one. Everyone in the family is a name that chores and events get assigned to. Homestead doesn't create accounts for children and doesn't store any information about them beyond the name you type in.

Does the board work without internet?+

Yes, except for weather. Chores, the calendar, meal plans, and timers all keep working offline. Weather is a live lookup through Apple's WeatherKit and needs a connection, so it's the one thing that goes quiet.

Can we all edit the calendar?+

Yes. Everyone in the household sees it and everyone can edit it.
